The insulation is closed cell spray foam for the walls, roof, and under the floor systems (1st and 2nd) Interior walls, ceilings, and trims are cypress wood, pre-finished in white, then sanded in place and a clear poly top coat applied. The floors are 3/4" solid Hickory, with a hand scraped finish. The interior doors are Rouge Valley solid Douglas fir 4 panel. Windows and exterior doors are Marvin Integrity, insulated, argon gas, hurricane rated. The 12' SGD in the living room is an Anderson because Marvin didn't make a rated 12' SGD. The vanities in the bathrooms were made from Dade County pine salvaged from the old cottage that was torn down and replaced with the new house. The 2 1/2" thick wood plank tops are slabs of west coast Douglas fir. The concrete deck around the pool is 5" reinforced with 1/2" rebar grid. The landscape includes bananas (3 varieties), figs, key limes, Bahama cherry, mango, and many flowering plants. We do not use pesticides or herbicides. After 25 years of composting and mulching around the plants, the soil is rich and fertile, requiring only occasional hand watering.
